Interested in Joining the Capital City Clauses 2024-2025 Board

UNDERSTANDING YOUR COMMITMENT

The Capital City Clauses is a completely volunteer board comprised of various community professionals who dedicate their time and passion to the mission. Nothing happens unless we do it, so we are seeking organized, engaged, and thoughtful people committed to help make a difference.

OUR EVENTS

Jingle in July: Jingle in July is a mid-week happy hour event in July.

Jingle Ball: Jingle Ball is our flagship event in early December hosting ~1,100-2600 guests at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Each board member is assigned to (1) event and (1) non-event committee. These committees are tasked with the operations of the non-profit, event logistics and ensuring fundraising efforts are met. These are by no means exclusive and all-hands are encouraged to help whenever possible.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising through corporate sponsors and community engagement are a major part of board responsibility. Each applicant must be comfortable seeking connections to possible sponsors throughout the community for engagement. We do expect each Board member to raise at a minimum $500 by reaching out to their networks for Sponsorships of the Jingle Ball.

TIME COMMITMENT

The Capital City Clauses holds full board meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, excluding July and December, and with two meetings in November. Meetings begin at 6:30 and last approximately 1.5-2 hours. Dinner is provided during this time.  All board members are required to attend the full board meetings. These meetings are held in person unless otherwise pre-arranged.

In addition to the full board meetings, committees will regularly meet. Committee meeting dates and times will be determined by the committee members during an initial orientation meeting.

TERM OF SERVICE

Every board member is appointed a 3-year term. Initially this sounds lengthy, but it is just the right amount of time to really engage board members in the Clauses organization. Life, work, and family can change significantly in three years, so we are adaptable to board members who must recuse themselves early from their commitment. We entrust each member to be open with communication and allow the board an opportunity to replace their vacancy.

FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

Being a Board member for Capital City Clauses does not cost the member anything financially. However, we do expect each Board member to raise at a minimum $500 by reaching out to their networks for Sponsorships of the Jingle Ball.
