Who We Are

Capital City Clauses, Inc. is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation comprised entirely of volunteers. Our mission is to enrich children’s lives with hope, cheer and joy. We are the sprinkles in children’s lives!

Understanding Your Commitment

The Capital City Clauses are a completely volunteer board comprised of various community professionals who dedicate their time and passion to the mission. Nothing happens unless we do it so we are always seeking organized, engaged and thoughtful people to help make a difference.

Our Events

  • Jingle in July: Jingle in July is a mid-week happy hour event in July.

  • Jingle Ball: Jingle Ball is our flagship event in early December hosting more than 2600 guests at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

  • Annual Board Planning Retreat: TBD a Saturday in Spring 2020

  • Other events: NOG Run (March and October), On-Site Kendra Scott events, Stock the Sled with CBS17, Toy Purchasing events, Alumni Event, Board Social Event, Boar

Each board member is assigned to (1) event and (1) non-event Committee. These Committees are tasked with the operations of the non-profit, event logistics and ensuring fundraising efforts are met. These are by no means exclusive and all-hands are encouraged to help whenever possible.

Fundraising through corporate sponsors and community engagement are a major part of board responsibility. Each applicant must be comfortable seeking connections to possible sponsors throughout the community for engagement.

Time Commitment

We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month for our monthly board meetings. These typically last about (2) hours and involve the meat of the organization’s decisions. Each Committee works out its own schedule for meetings which can range from once in a while, once a month or several times a month depending on need. Monthly board meeting attendance is a minimum requirement. The best board members are often the busiest people so we understand life and illness can get in the way on occasion. However, priority will be given to applicants that can ensure attendance at all board meetings, the board retreat and other events throughout the year.

Every board member is appointed a 3-year term. Initially this sounds lengthy, but it is just the right amount of time to really engage board members in the Clauses organization. Life, work, and family can change significantly in three years, so we are adaptable to board members who must recuse themselves early from their commitment. We entrust each member to be open with communication and allow the board an opportunity to replace their vacancy.

Financial Commitment

While the background of our board is rich and diverse, we do encourage each of our board members to commit financially to the Capital City Clauses however they are able. The minimum suggested commitment is the purchase of your personal VIP Jingle Ball ticket.
