How often does the board meet?
The board typically meets monthly (with the exception of July and December which are typical months the board holds flagship events)] to discuss ongoing initiatives, review progress, and strategize for future projects. Additional meetings may be scheduled during critical times, such as event planning or fundraising campaigns. Board members are also encouraged to attend key events and committee meetings, which vary in frequency depending on the needs of the organization. Board members are encouraged to attend in person, though occasionally attending virtually can be accommodated.

Is prior nonprofit experience required?
No, prior nonprofit experience is not a requirement! We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community and who bring valuable skills, ideas, and enthusiasm to the table. What is the time commitment for a board position?
Board members are expected to dedicate an average of 10-15 hours per month to board-related activities. This includes attending meetings, participating in events, and contributing to the organization’s projects and fundraising goals. Time commitments may vary depending on the role and the time of year. -
What is the term length for a board position?
The typical term length for a board member is 3 calendar years, starting term in March and ending terms the subsequent February. This allows board members to make a meaningful impact while also providing an opportunity for fresh perspectives over time. -

How can I prepare my application?
Your application should highlight your passion for the mission of Capital City Clauses, your relevant skills or experience, and your vision for how you can contribute to the organization’s success. Be sure to review the application timeline and include all required materials. -
What happens after I submit my application?
Once you’ve submitted your application, our selection committee will review all submissions. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to participate in our Meet the Board event to discuss your qualifications, interests, and availability. Final decisions will be communicated shortly after that. -
Are there any costs associated with being a board member?
Board members are bound by a $500 give or get requirement. While Capital City Clauses will provide assistance and a database of potential funders and sponsors, it will be up to the individual member to either give or get their $500/year gift. -
